2014 MASSACHUSETTS ENA OFFICER ELECTION INFORMATION
We invite you to become a part of a dynamic group of ED nurses and apply for a position as an officer for the Massachusetts ENA State Council. Currently we are seeking applications for the following positions:
- Board of Directors (2 positions)
Candidates must be Massachusetts residents, have current RN licensure in Massachusetts and current ENA membership. Meeting responsibilities include attending the scheduled state council meetings (4-5 are held each year), as well as executive committee conference calls (5-6 times per year).
It is strongly suggested that candidates for the positions of President-elect, Secretary and Treasurer have served on MA ENA Board of Directors for at least one term (currently or in the recent past).
Below are brief descriptions of each position and the responsibilities of the office. 2014 Officer Openings
President-elect: The President-elect shall succeed to the office of President at the expiration of the President’s term. In the event the office of President becomes vacant, the President-elect shall serve as president for the balance of his predecessor’s term as well as for the entire term for which he was elected. The President-elect shall perform any duties assigned to him by the President and shall have and may exercise all the powers and duties of the President during the absence of the President or in the event of his inability to act. This is a 4 year commitment ( 1 year as President-elect, 2 years as President and 1 year as Immediate Past President)
Treasurer: The Treasurer shall be the chief financial officer and the chief accounting officer of the corporation. She/He shall be in charge of its financial affairs, funds, securities and valuable papers and shall keep full and accurate records thereof. She/He shall also be in charge of its books of account and accounting records, and of its accounting procedures. It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to prepare or oversee all filings required by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Internal Revenue Service and other federal or state agencies. She/He shall have such other duties and powers as designated by the State Council or the President.This is a two (2) year commitment.
Board of Directors: Two(2) positions are available. These individuals share the active support of Chapters and committees, as well as other activities designated by the State Council and/or President. These are two (2) year positions.
The Massachusetts ENA Executive Committee is made up of the President, the President-elect or the Immediate Past President, the Secretary, the Treasurer and the executive Committee Board member.
The current ENA State Council president is Sheila Silva her term expires at the end of 2014. Maureen Curtis-Cooper is the current Immediate Past President during 2013.
The duties of the President include the general charge and supervision of the State Council. The president is the Chief Executive Officer and presides over state council meetings and conference calls in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order. The Presidency is a two (2) year term combined with a one (1) year term as President-elect and a one (1) year term as Immediate Past President, making it a four (4) year commitment.
